Top 10 Favorite Listens - 2010

1. Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians
2. Joe Farrell - Joe Farrell Quartet
3. Shaft - Soul Mann & the Brothers
4. DJ Cam - Loa Project Vol. 2
5. Miles Davis - Bag's Groove
6. Tomita - Snowflakes are Dancing
7. Vangelis - Soil Festivities
8. Silverstein/Ozawa - Vivaldi Four Seasons
9. IDMf - IDM Techno Minimal Deep House Compilation
10. Don Limpio - What Does Your Tongue Like

honorable mention - lots of Thelonious Monk solo (Alone in San Fran., Solo Monk, Thelonious Himself)

Not a list of the best new albums, these were the go-to albums throughout the year. Mostly I listen to playlists of random selections chosen for their ability to not wake me up in the middle of the night.
#10 Don Limpio (Sherwin Jones) is an artist who, at least for the time being, seems to have fallen off the face of the planet. I know he's alive :) , which is good! But none of his music is available online. Hopefully that'll change soon, his stuff is brilliant. If you like your IDM mashed up, sped up, outlandish and funky - try to hunt him down. There is a myspace page still up that doesn't even begin to tell the story. I won't link to it since I got the nastiest trojan/virus at myspace recently. The Force be with you! - KM

IDM Forums free Techno/Minimal/Deep House Compilation

As you may know - I don't listen to much electronic music, but occasionally something grabs my attention. IDM Forums released this a few months back - it's a compilation by the best artists associated with the site, and it sounds very good! Especially nice is the non-stop mix of all the tracks by Ben Walthew. Don't let the price tag fool you - if you're looking for fresh new beats - check it out!  - SO

Acid Test-Emerald Ignition

Some cool sounds and construction by a young friend of mine. Check out his youtube page for more beats - often more in the trance-techno-house genres. Fine listening!

lil blog take 3

Welcome to the 3rd incarnation of the Li'l Blog! Wordpress was loading way to slow for me, and I've been doing good with blogger - so here we are.

Not sure how many fans I have left since it's been 2 years since the last cd & airplay's been a little slim. "Tussle in B Minor" has kept me alive some on the airwaves, and lately it's been used for incidental music on some very left-wing am radio talk shows scattered throughout the country. Who'd a thunk it?

So I haven't been blogging much anyway, or tweeting, what have you - since all there is to tell is that I've been working on the next cd steadily for over a year. There are 12 tracks right now, about half of them are all done - the rest are getting close. I'm leaning towards adding 2 more cuts to maintain a few traditions kept on the other releases. I'm hoping for a spring release - March would be awesome. I can't wait to get it out and heard. :)

Last year's digital-only Christmas release "Nativity Set" is going to be available on Itunes and everywhere else this coming holiday season - thanks to my awesome distributor Morphius. So if you haven't checked that out yet you'll be able to do so soon!

If you missed anything on the old blog or you're a new visitor, you can still view it here.

Thanks for stopping by - hope you're having the perfect Autumn! - SO
